Greg EscalanteWas shocked to find the my friend Greg Escalante passed away yesterday. I do not yet know the details, but Greg was at his gallery's opening this Saturday on Chung King Road in China Town Los Angeles, the pictures on Facebook show him look as usual. There is no inkling that he would be snatched from among us in any of the photos.
I cannot imagine things can be the same without him, especially the Gregorio Escalante Gallery in China Town. Greg made many things happen there that completely changed the place. The huge mural on the side of the wall, the DJ's he would hire to perform at openings, the good food and drink he always made available to anyone who came. Greg knew how to use his resources to make a difference, which is the most important thing anyone can do.
Hoping Mat Gleason can step in and perhaps shoulder some of the action that Greg was always behind. Mat is right next door at Coagula Curitorial and his was the post that informed me of Greg.
